Frequently Asked Questions
What is Chumi?
Chumi is a high-protein, low-fat lickable cat supplement designed to support daily nutrition and overall wellness. It’s made with real meat and functional ingredients to complement your cat’s regular meals—not replace them.
Can I give Chumi every day?
Yes. Chumi is formulated for daily use when fed in recommended amounts. Its low-fat profile and carefully selected ingredients make it suitable for regular inclusion in your cat’s routine.
What if I forget to give it some days?
No worries! Chumi works best with daily consistency, but occasional missed days won't negate the benefits. Many of our cat parents say their cats actually remind them—they come running when they hear the stick opening! The key is building it into your routine, like morning coffee or evening feeding.
How many sachets can I give per day?
Feeding guidelines depend on your cat’s size and needs, but generally:
- Small cats: 1 sachet per day
- Medium cats: 1–2 sachets per day
- Larger cats: up to 2–4 sachets per day
Adjust based on your cat’s diet, activity level, and your veterinarian’s advice.
Is Chumi a complete meal?
No. Chumi is a complementary feed, not a complete and balanced food. It’s meant to be given alongside your cat’s regular wet or dry food as part of a balanced diet.
My cat already eats premium food. Do they still need supplements?
Even premium cat foods are formulated to meet minimum daily requirements, not optimal wellness. Chumi provides targeted support for areas like urinary health, coat quality, digestive balance, and immune resilience that go beyond basic nutrition—especially important for indoor cats, senior cats, or cats with specific needs.
How is Chumi different from treats?
Great question! While treats provide occasional rewards, Chumi is a functional wellness supplement with targeted nutritional support. Every ingredient serves a specific health purpose—immunity, digestion, heart health, etc. It's formulated by veterinary nutritionists to fill nutritional gaps, not just provide empty calories or flavoring.
Chumi is designed to go beyond palatability.
While many creamy treats focus mainly on taste and hydration, Chumi combines high palatability with purposeful nutritional ingredients like taurine, L-lysine, prebiotics, postbiotics, vitamins, and omega-3s to support everyday wellness.
Is Chumi a supplement or a treat?
Chumi is a daily multivitamin supplement designed to support your cat’s overall health but in a treat format that’s so tasty, our Chumingmings can’t get enough of it. The price is a little higher than your standard cat treats, because it’s not a treat, but a complete daily supplement that’s packed with over 10 functional ingredients specifically designed for your cat’s overall health. And the best part is you only need 1 sachet a day to give your cat a comprehensive wellness boost. Can’t put a price on that!
Do I still need to give other supplements if I use Chumi?
Chumi covers most essential areas of daily cat wellness, so for most cats with normal health, it provides comprehensive support. However, if your veterinarian has prescribed specific supplements for medical conditions (like kidney support or thyroid medication), continue following their guidance—Chumi complements but doesn't replace medical treatments.
Will my picky cat actually like it?
During our development and beta testing, we saw excellent acceptance across cats of all ages and temperaments. Chumi uses highly palatable ingredients like real salmon oil that cats naturally love. Plus, our 30-day guarantee means you can try it risk-free. If your cat doesn't enjoy it, we'll refund you—no questions asked.
What if my cat has allergies?
Chumi is free from common allergens like wheat, corn, and soy. However, if your cat has known allergies to specific proteins (like salmon or chicken), please review our full ingredient list or contact us before purchasing. We're happy to help you assess if Chumi is right for your cat.
Can I use Chumi for multiple cats?
Absolutely! Each cat should receive one stick per day based on their weight (see feeding guide). Many of our customers have multi-cat households. The 3-month and 6-month supplies offer better value if you have multiple cats.
Is Chumi safe for kittens? Senior cats? Cats with health conditions?
Chumi is formulated for all life stages—from kittens (8 weeks+) to senior cats. Our vet-aligned formula supports everyday wellness needs across all ages. For cats with specific medical conditions or on prescription medications, we recommend consulting your veterinarian before starting any new supplement, as they know your cat's individual health history best.
Is Chumi safe for pregnant or lactating cats?
Chumi contains folic acid, an important nutrient during growth and reproduction.
However, we recommend consulting your veterinarian before giving Chumi to pregnant or lactating cats.
Does Chumi treat or prevent diseases?
No.
Chumi is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
It is a nutritional supplement treat meant to support overall wellness as part of daily care.
How long until I see results?
Some benefits (like improved coat shine and increased energy) may be noticeable within 2-4 weeks. Deeper wellness support (immunity, digestive health) builds over time with consistent daily use. Think of it like your own multivitamin—the benefits compound over weeks and months of consistent support.
Does Chumi meet AAFCO complete-and-balanced standards?
As a treat/supplement, Chumi is not required to meet AAFCO complete-food nutrient profiles or undergo feeding trials. It is intended to complement—not replace—complete meals.
Is Chumi tested on animals?
Chumi is tested with cats (palatability and acceptance testing), not on cats in harmful ways. We don't conduct invasive testing. Our formulation was developed based on established veterinary research and tested with volunteer cats whose owners participated in our beta program.
How is Chumi tested for safety?
Each Chumi batch is tested according to HACCP standards. All results must fall within safe limits for pet food products before they are cleared for sale.
How was Chumi formulated?
Chumi was intentionally formulated by two Filipino cat moms who know the struggle of giving vitamins and supplements to finicky cats.
The formulation process spanned several months in collaboration with a licensed nutritionist, the manufacturer’s expert research & development arm, and a licensed veterinarian.
The goal was to create a highly palatable supplement packed with key vitamins and nutrients essential for daily feline wellness. This included:
- Low-fat, high-protein nutrition suitable for daily feeding
- Essential amino acids cats cannot produce on their own (like taurine and L-lysine)
- Digestive and gut support using prebiotics (FOS) and a heat-stable postbiotic (L-137)
- Palatability, so cats actually enjoy eating it
The formulation was later reviewed from a veterinary nutrition perspective to ensure ingredient choices and claim language were appropriate and responsible.
Where is Chumi made?
Chumi is made in Thailand by a licensed pet food manufacturer that specializes in complementary pet foods.
The facility follows strict hygiene, quality, and safety standards, with routine testing for microbiological safety and heavy metals to ensure product consistency and safety.
What are the benefits of the main ingredients?
- Real meat & marine proteins – provide essential amino acids cats need as obligate carnivores
- Taurine – supports heart health and clear vision
- L-lysine – helps support the immune system
- Salmon oil & biotin – support healthy skin and a shiny coat
- FOS (prebiotic) & L-137 (postbiotic) – improves digestion, gut health, and nutrient absorption
- Vitamin E & B-complex – support immunity and natural energy
- Cranberry extract – traditionally used to support urinary health
Folic acid – supports energy, vitality, and healthy blood cell formation
Why did you choose a postbiotic instead of live probiotics?
Chumi uses postbiotic L-137, an inactivated bacterial strain.
Postbiotics were chosen because they:
- remain stable during heat processing
- are not destroyed by stomach acid
- support gut barrier function and nutrient absorption
- avoid the stability and shelf-life issues of live probiotics
This makes them more suitable for shelf-stable, ready-to-feed products like Chumi.
How do I give Chumi to my cat?
Super simple! Just tear open one stick and let your cat lick directly from it—most cats love this. If your cat prefers, you can also squeeze the contents onto their food or a plate. It takes less than 2 minutes and becomes a bonding ritual cats look forward to.
How should I store Chumi?
Store unopened sachets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, use immediately or seal tightly and refrigerate—use within 24 hours for optimal freshness and palatability.
